An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver and horn mull vinaigrette; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and horn vinaigrette has a tapering cylindrical, spiralling mull shaped form. The horn body of the case is embellished with an applied silver vacant shield-shaped cartouche. The body of this antique vinaigrette retains the original circular mount, accented with a round link chain conjoined to either side. The mount is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover, embellished with impressive embossed and chased thistle designs, accented with a collet set citrine to the upper portion. The hallmarked hinged cover opens to reveal the original hinged grille and gilt interior. The semi-circular grille is ornamented with pierced scrolling leaf decoration. This antique mull vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks to the surface of the mount are all clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
